Adoptive Family Requirements
In order to be approved as an active Adoptive Family with our agency you must have the following

Background checks
(BCI’s). These are criminal, child abuse, neglect and sexual abuse checks. These will all be required from the state the applicants currently reside. These can be obtained through the office of licensing of the department of human services. Applicants will need to have these clearances from every state that have resided in in the last five years. Any adult living in the home eighteen years or older will require the same clearance.

Health insurance, Medical Information, Life Insurance
We do require that the child always have health insurance. A copy of the applicant’s policy will be required proving there is coverage.

Home study
To be shown to a birth mother a family needs to be ‘home study ready’. This means your home study, with an accredited social worker has been approved. Once this is done, your profile will be shown to the birth parents of your choice.

Marital status, Family make up
Married applicants need to be married and live together for at least a year in the same home. We do not discriminate against single parents. Birth parents are often open to single parents and we like to add their profile to the ones being shown. You can not be in a cohabitating relationship.

Income, Career Info
There are no income restrictions. The applicant’s income needs to be such that can adequately care for all of the needs of the family including the new baby.
